Quarter teretes back in limited quantities.

A selection of different hybrids from Pv. Josephine Van Brero and related quarter terete hybrids. Exceptionally vigorous, durable, and free flowering. Large plants. Now includes more new varieties!

Sets of twelve will include two of each of the following:

  • Papilionanda Wong Poh Nee (fragrant) (Papilionanda Josephine van Brero × Vanda tessellata)

  • Papilionanda Josephine van Brero x Vanda Prapathom Gold

  • Papilionanda Chao Praya Delight (striking red)

  • Papilionanda Benjamin Chew (Papilionanda Josephine van Brero × Vanda tessellata)

  • Papilionanda Josephine van Brero × Vanda Black Magic

  • Papilionanda Papilionanda Xishan Mindful 85 ( Pda. Josephine van Brero x Vanda Prayard Muang Ratch)

These are large (14-18”) blooming size plants which bloom nearly constantly when adapted to full sun in pots, beds and attached to palm trees. Colors range from blue-mauve to yellow to orange to reddish orange. They do not tolerate cold well, so if you are in a cold climate, consider other options or at least make sure that the plants are portable and can be moved inside when it is cold.

A great opportunity to add color to your landscape! Remember that while these plants can take full sun by nature, they are used to nursery conditions and need to be eased into full sun conditions over the course of about a month. Also, never leave them lying flat as exposure to direct sun at that angle can result in severe burning.

Florida Orchid Growing: Month by Month 2nd Edition
by Martin Motes, PhD

The BEST and Best Selling Book on growing orchids in Florida!

Martin Motes, a native Floridian, has been growing orchids south of Miami for over fifty years, man and boy. His guidance and advice come from a deep knowledge and practical experience of the local, subtropical world. Monthly guides lead the aspiring orchidist through the intricacies of the changing climate and growing conditions of the Florida year: its benefits and its dangers. Practical solutions to problems and to control and prevention of pests and diseases are offered. Growing materials and tools are suggested and their local sources are provided.

Written in a humorous and easily accessible style, Florida Orchid Growing will make everyone an expert. This Florida-specific guide will prove invaluable to subtropical and tropical growers everywhere.

In addition to updates on the latest in disease and pest control, the new edition contains an extensive chapter on control of Thrips giving growers the tools needed to control this ubiquitous pest. Over sixty years’ experience has shown that controlling Thrips consistently yields control of scale, mealy bugs and all other insect pests, including the wily cucaracha. A new chapter on “Advice for Snowbirds” helps our winter visitors leave their beloved orchids behind with more confidence that they will be fine upon their return. Finally, in the 12 years that have passed since the first edition of Florida Orchid Growing was published, molecular research has led to numerous name changes in genera. The new and proper nomenclature for many plants is incorporated in the new book.

FAQs

  • We want everyone to be happy with our plants. We have shipped tens of thousands of orders, and our general dissatisfaction rate is less than 0.1%. However, sometimes there are problems and we have established policies to deal with these issues.

First and foremost, we ask that any issues be brought to our attention right away. Plants are living things and it is harder to attribute problems to the originator a month after you got the plants than a few days afterwards. So, if there is an issue, please let us know about it right away and take some photos to document any issues so we are on the same page.

We have a no questions asked refund policy. You can return your plants after receiving them for a full refund of the value of the plants. You must return them at your own expense and we do not refund the hard shipping costs on our end.

If there is a problem in terms of a plant that appears to be unhealthy or will not thrive, we commonly will replace that plant in a subsequent order.

When dissatisfaction is due to a perception that the plants are not what the customer bargained for (usually due to inexperience with non-standard vandas and their smaller size), we try to find a meaningful solution, usually involving some consideration for a future order.

Complete customer satisfaction is our goal and we almost always achieve it with the help of our customers.

  • Because we have traditionally produced our own plants in our own lab, we have never experienced real problems with viruses here or with plants shipped to customers. We completely guarantee our made in the USA plants against virus. In the unlikely event that one of our Made in the USA plants tested positive for virus, please promptly notify us. We sometimes sell bargain Thai plants suitable for beginners. We are unable to guarantee the Thai bargain plants which are labeled “import” or located in the import section against virus. Buy them at your own risk. Please note: many of these plants are very good plants, if not we would not sell them. However, since we cannot supervise them from seed to maturity, we cannot guarantee that they will be virus free. Neither can anyone else.

  • Online orders have a typical processing time of five business days before shipping. These are live plants and weather conditions can delay shipping. Transit times will vary based on the option you select at checkout. You will get a shipping confirmation email when your order ships.

  • You can buy a digital gift card that can be used online or in person at our New York store.

  • The short answer is: no. We are not open to the public on a regular basis. The long answer is a little more complex. We do almost all of our business online. However you can see us at the two orchid festivals we organize and operate: the Redland International Orchid Festival or the Tamiami International Orchid Festival or at the Rare Plant Festival, which we also organize and operate.

  • Keep an eye out for our open houses. At time of writing, our next open house is April 18, 2026 from 10 am to 4 pm.
